Manchester was a boom town expanding in size throughout the Industrial Revolution. The city was the site of the world’s first railway station and subsequently an epi-center of the railway boom in Great Britain. 

Many hotels in Manchester were erected to accommodate the large influx of travelers to and from the city and its surroundings.
