Newark Airport is a famous airport within New York and was the first major airport in the New York area when it was opened on October 1, 1928. Today New York has seven International Airports, but the Newark Airport was the first ever constructed for the area and it straddles both New York and New Jersey. The airport was first constructed on 86 acres of reclaimed land alongside the Passaic River, and last year (2011) it handled more than 33.8 million passengers. There are numerous hotels located near Newark airport, and some of the affordable hotels include the Howard Johnson, Holiday Inn, Ramada Plaza Hotel, DoubleTree, and the Hilton. Other hotels that are more expensive because of their quality, but are still affordable, include the Courtyard, the Marriott, Springhill Suites, and Fairfield Inn & Suites.

The Hilton is a high quality hotel that has been around since 1919, and they are located on Spring Street in Elizabeth. This hotel has 378 luxurious rooms available to choose from, and the average prices for a room range from $89.00 (on sale) to $179.00 (normal price). The Hilton also comes with a parking fee of $12 per night, and you have to pay for Internet access at $10 per night. The free commodities that come with the Hilton include free 24-hour shuttle service, an indoor swimming pool, and a fitness center. The Holiday Inn is another good hotel, but is not as upscale as the Hilton, and the average prices for a room range from $79.00 to $145.00 per night. The Holiday Inn offers free shuttle service and is located right off of the interstate in Newark.

Two other upscale hotels in the Newark area are the Fairfield Inn & Suites and the Springhill Suites. The Springhill Suites is a branch of the even greater named hotel Marriott, and Marriott has been in business since 1957 and was first opened in Arlington Virginia – now it is located in 73 countries across the world. Today, the average price for a room at Marriott’s branch, Springhill Suites, is $159 per night, and in Newark it is located right off of the highway. The Fairfield Inn & Suites is also located right off of the highway and is 0.8 miles away from Newark airport. The Fairfield offers rooms per night at $144.00, and it provides common commodities such as an indoor pool and fitness center – it does not offer a free shuttle though.
